If it hails in KS, does it really hit anything? 2 Replies

Because of slow response on total losses I will pose another age old question that comes up all during the year but more often during Storm Season.

During many storms damage may be cosmetic and which is reluctantly accepted by some people as a fact of life. That means the vehicle probably will not get fixed, be traded or sold, or only partially repaired.

I would propose asking if anyone thinks that, because of this “non accountability” factor of actually having the vehicle repaired, many estimates are prepared which are not inclusive of all the damage. Slip ups will happen that would have to be stipulated. This would lead to settlements by the unknowledgeable consumer for less than the actual damage. Does the readership think that there are many estimates prepared and settlements made which do not represent the true damage to the vehicle? Are these accidental or intentional?

If the problem exists do you have a suggestion for correcting the problem?

A little brain teaser for the holidays.
