We weren't able to advertise the Hub on AutomotiveForums.com but with Rachel in charge we will be able to attract future leaders.

Looks like they have added a Future Industry Leaders group here already. Great idea !! I just visited AutomotiveForums.com and their collision repair thread. There are lots of students there looking for advice and a few instructors too.

I don't see any harm in it as long as the content is education or repair related. I think we should encourage school councilors to join also so they can see the quality of students the industry is needing.

We've had some students join the Hub in the last few days. Should the Hub start a group for the students?

I have a wild idea. We should develop an opportunity for young people just getting into the industry. Possibly call it :Future Industry Leaders". Membership in this group would have the monthly opportunity to hear from various industry leaders on their view and experience in the industry. It would allow young people to jump start their careers and have a more comprehensive understandning of the industry faster than the way we got it. Obviously we are considering how volunteering as an I-CAR committee member can really help a young person's exposure and understanding of the industry faster than by just working a job and having limited networking opportunities. We could use web conferencing or webcasting for example. Looking for your thoughts and feedback.

There are many skilled young adults in the schools who will someday be asked to step up and take some of our places. Automobiles are becoming ever more complicated and computerized. It will in the future take skilled young technitians to maintain the fleet of vehicles on the roads today. For those of us who have been there it's our opportunity to pass on our knowledge to the ones following us.
