Detailing Waterborne? (Color Sand and Polish)

There's been a large amount of conversation regarding the color sand polish work required with waterborne due to airflow issues. 

Is there a different material and procedure when performing color sand and polish to waterborne vs. solvent. 

Due quick set clears and the european water clears make a difference?
