Hi folks,

Coming in pretty late on this conversation, but I have over 15 yrs experience in getting press out there for clients. I recommend the old fashioned way - 1 at a time to editors with relevant reasons why they might want to consider running it. The lists and service you can buy that is automated is garbage in my opinion. Most trade books are savvy enough to block them. Send it as a word doc with a jpg file separate. Keep it to 100 words or less and keep it as product specific as you can. If you make it sound like a sales pitch, they will most likely toss it. Hope that helps!

@Jeffrey: All I could find for you on demographics is a downloadable report: http://www.marketresearch.com/product/display.asp?productid=2041185

Hi Susan - It would be great if you'd start a new discussion thread in this group on this topic, because I think you've really hit on an important subject! But I'll throw a few ideas out here for you, too.

You absolutely can simply send your release to all the trade mags, and there's a good chance it will get picked up if it applies to their target audience. If not in print, then most likely online. Also, you may want to look in to Google Adwords. It's a pay-per-click advertising service that may generate some sales for you if you choose the right keywords for your product.

Of course, you'll also want to utilize your company Facebook page, and start a Twitter feed, if you haven't already, to help get the word out.

Hope this helps!

I am interested in getting some help/advice on "how to get my product seen".  I have a new website, three videos on Youtube, and am trying to get some inexpensive promotion.  I have written a good press release and was looking into a website where you pay for distribution of the release.  Not sure how industry specific that would be.  Can I just send the release randomly to trade mags, etc.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....no one can find my site....I need some business.  Thanks

Is the world wide web a thing of the past, do people actually surf the web anymore, seems that portals like facebook and similar sites have made life on the internet a bit less complicated, I call it Direct marketing, hmm I'm certain they have some better catchy name for that, seems to me we are spending a whole lot less time searching and more time getting, are these portals like your trusty sales rep.!
thought of the day! as you ponder the next customer.
