Has anyone had any long term experience with this paint? I have recently demo'ed it and am very impressed. So much so, I am switching to it from BASF after almost 25 years of use. The color match is…Continue

At the risk of bragging on my son, who paints for me, he has developed a foolproof strategy for matching 3 stage colors that I have not heard anyone else mention before. My BASF rep was here…Continue

Invoicing For Paint And Related Materials

At a time when everyone in this business sees the flaws in the method we have traditionally used to calculate our charges for paint and materials, I cannot understand for the life of me why we haven't all been more insistent on abandoning an obviously deeply flawed method in favor of a reliable method. That is, unless the ones ultimately paying the bill steadfastly refuse to allow a change that could affect their bottom line instead of those of us on the shop side of the issue.  None of us…See More

DRPs Could Actually Be Good For Our Industry

I thought of an idea that I think could uplift our entire industry, save insurance companies money and greatly benefit the consumer. My idea would have those participating in any DRP program agree to random post repair inspections, not by the insurance company, but by each other. The program would work like this:  Subsequent to repair, vehicles would be randomly selected to be re-inspected by another network shop. The customer's name and the name of the repairing shop would be removed from…See More

De Beer Automotive Finishes

Has anyone had any long term experience with this paint? I have recently demo'ed it and am very impressed. So much so, I am switching to it from BASF after almost 25 years of use. The color match is amazing, the coverage is great, and the clears are superior and very easy to polish.  Being a urethane rather than a polyester, the clear dries a slight bit slower than what my painters are accustomed to, but the buffability more than makes up for the slower dry time.   Any thoughts?See More

Thanks for the birthday wishes.  I enjoy your comments, we are generally in the same book, maybe on a different page, but that is what makes these forums work.  We each are able to present our position as well as learn about other's perspectives, keep them coming I always take something away from every comment.
