Recovering Diminished Value Can Help Your Business

Recovering funds through diminished value claims can be an important tool in improving customer satisfaction and a powerful strategy for developing future customers As a collision repair professional, you are no doubt familiar with the concept of diminished value.  It is the loss or reduction in an automobile’s market value due to an accident. Removal of base material, as well as certain other remanufacturing…See More

What is DV?Diminished Value, DV, diminution of value, loss in resale value, accelerated depreciation….it’s called many things. It is the direct and actual loss or reduction in an automobile’s market value due to its involvement in an accident. This loss can and does occur even when a vehicle has been repaired properly.Look at it this way. You’re looking to sell your vehicle. You have found a buyer who is looking at your vehicle and one other. The other vehicle is the same year, make, and model.…See More

Why post repair inspections are a good thing

Post Repair InspectionsConsumers have been trained by insurance companies over the years to “get three estimates and we will pay the lowest one.” Unfortunately, these same consumers have applied this method not only to the purchase of insurance, but to the purchase of collision repair. This has forced both insurance companies and collision repair shops to compete on price alone. The tendency to provide the lowest price at the expense of quality and good service has resulted in the general…See More

Good law in MA for Lean shops

This may be helpful for insurance companies and shops in MassachusettsManagement Tip for MA shop ownersGoing LEAN?A fundamental concept of Lean production for collision repair is to diagnose ALL the damage BEFORE the insurance appraiser shows up to do his thing. The goal is to eliminate the time consuming and expensive process of supplements the insurer is going to have to complete due to inaccurate damage appraisals. Many shop are under the false assumption that they can not disassemble a…See More

Hey Bob,I have to pick your brain, what do you know about the CMR reg.that states anything about the insurer proving that the vehicle they have written is a total loss. We are strating to see a rash of totals from insurers who have the least amount of experience in writing cars.
I have a customer here who just happens to be my lead tech an its his car.
For example the insurer told him there were no used parts, the same day I called 3 suppliers how all verified the parts in stock.
If you have any input on this give me a shout @ 508-285-2900 or e-mail @ midwaycc@aol.com
Thanks Rick
