What Can You Do with the BMS?

While this may seem like an easy question to answer, the answer is a long one. The BMS currently contains 104 messages each of which performs a different data exchange for a specific business function. The 104 messages address data exchanges between companies to improve the work-flow between and within companies. More messages are added to the BMS with each new Release.

What is the BMS?

BMS is short for Business Message Specification. Simply put it is the Specifications or Formats for all the Business Messages (or exchanges) within the Collision Industry. It contains data specifications for:

Why did CIECA develop the BMS?

 

As e-commerce has become a bigger part of our daily lives, the data flow between trading partners has expanded wider and deeper into the repair process.  Data that was once exchanged between only the body shop and insurance company is now shared with a number of companies providing a wide range of services in the collision process.
