If family is the center of my universe, business is an orbiting satellite. I’ve been happiest when I’m working my own gig, but I’ve tried to be a good student wherever I’m situated. My current endeavor, AutoNetTV, is the most ambitious and by far the most fun. In addition to the challenges of business, I get to indulge my passion for cars and writing. And the Show Biz part is a kick.

Family provides more joy and pain than I ever could have thought possible. It started with two people expressing their hope in the world by inviting a child into their lives. And then another, and another, and another, and another. Then reaching around the world for a sixth and across the country for a seventh. When we were done, under our roof we had four boys, three girls, three races, two angels with Down syndrome and one with autism.

The nest starts to empty, first with the happy occasion of two back-to-back marriages. Then agonizingly with two back-to-back deaths from cancer. How do we go on? We’ll have to get back on that.
