SEMA // roundtable discussion

I am looking forward to seeing everyone that is coming to SEMA and wondering if you are planning to attend the Collision Repair Education Foundation roundtable discussion on Thursday eve. Also it would be nice to have a good representation at the 2010 Collision Repair Education Foundation 50K Makeover Grant announcement Thursday at 11 am

Total Loss - The Performing Duo

"Total Loss" band members Rick Tuuri and Rod Enlow performed at the 1st Annual Collision Industry Foundation Fundraiser on October 10th in Las Vegas. The event raised funds for the Foundations initiatives of Shops Against Hunger and title fee reimbursement for Recycled Rides. Next up, during the months of November and December, you can continue the good work in two ways:

Who is listening? Where is the Candid Dialogue?

I was going to write about "Work hard and be nice to people," then I asked myself: Who is listening? I look at the Collision Hub community of 2600 + members and see very few conversations going on. I wonder why so many people join and yet so few join the conversation. I do see a spike in conversation when someone brings up a 10-year old issue like: paint caps, blending, we don't pay for that etc.., but outside of that it's pretty silent. I'm not implying those topics aren't important, however… Continue

Just got back from Vegas and was totally disapointed in spending the time and money to go to such a poorly attended show. Let's face it, the show has been in decline for years. The date change has not helped. The show was so small they moved it upstairs to the small expo space and it was still to large of a space for the show. Heck, you could have held it in a ball…

Commercial

I was driving around yesterday and I heard a body shop commercial and couldn't believe someone would actually pay money for what I heard. The net of the commercial was that the shop was offering 90 minute bumper replacement. I can't image anyone getting very excited about a 90 minute repair. Who wants to wait around in a "body shop" for 90 minutes while their bumper gets replaced. What are they going to do? Maybe if the commercial pitched a 1-day bumper replacement with concierge service,… Continue

Management Systems

I am currently on Rome/Complete Shop. We just are not happy with it any longer. The new version some other shops have converted to and they say, don't do it. We are looking at Summit and Mitchell. Any others out there worth looking at? Any feedback from shops that feel they have a management system that is working great? Our shop does about 5 million a year. thanks,
