Role of CIECA in the Collision Industry

CIECA plays a vital role in the Collision Industry by developing  IT standards, codes, and best practices that make it possible for the Collision Industry to save money.

To most of the industry, developing electronic data exchange standards and codes is not exciting work.  Most would equate it to watching paint dry. To those that volunteer their time at CIECA, the work is rewarding and beneficial to the entire industry.  As a direct result of CIECA and the CIECA standards, the Collision Industry has increased productivity, efficiency, and reduced administrative costs.

For example, Repairers rely on CIECA standards and codes every day to reduce the keying of redundant data. Insurance companies and their business partners use CIECA standards and codes to communicate and exchange information using standardized transmissions. This allows data to be transferred to/from vehicle repairers, rental companies, tow companies, salvage processors and many other service providers with minimal redundancy. Car Rental companies use CIECA Standards and codes to eliminate the need to re-key data into Provider’s and/or their Customer’s own systems and improve accuracy, reporting and overall management of the repair cycle.

While CIECA does not build the systems and programs that the Industry uses daily, CIECA standards and codes make those systems and programs better by providing a standard definition of the data to be exchanged.

Demand that CIECA standards and codes be in all the systems that you use. If CIECA legacy standards (EMS) are already in those systems, demand to be upgraded to the latest CIECA standards (BMS) and codes.
