BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio – May 3, 2012 – Bedford Heights City Council passed a special resolution recognizing Mayfield Collision Centers’ contribution to the city’s K-9 program. Mayfield Collision Centers refurbished a 2006 Police Cruiser which will serve as the law enforcement vehicle for the city’s newly-established canine unit. Tom Griffin, President and Founder of Mayfield Collision Centers, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Mayfield Collision Centers donated the labor and materials necessary to revamp the vehicle, and also contributed to the cost of the canine.
According to Fletcher Berger, Mayor of the City, the donation is “Priceless in terms of the tremendously positive message to the community that this valued corporate citizen is sending by its willingness to step forward to do its part to help the city of Bedford Heights.” Police Chief Michael Marotta also commented, “Mayfield Collision Centers has fulfilled a dream of ours that we’ve wanted for some time to have a K-9 Unit in Bedford Heights…It’s a wonderful gift to the citizens of our community.”
Tom Griffin reminded the city council that “If the City didn’t reach out to us four years ago, we wouldn’t be standing here today. We worked together to change the zoning requirements to bring Mayfield Collision Centers to Bedford Heights, and now we’re working together to bring smiles on the faces of the people in the community.” Mayfield Collision Centers revamped the old Carpet Barn building on Aurora Road in September of 2009.
Residents of Bedford Heights can meet Arko the police dog and view the refurbished K-9 Unit at the Police Open House scheduled for Saturday May 19th from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. For more information on the Open House, visit www.facebook.com/cobhohio or phone Officer Kimberly Callieham at (440) 786.3259.
